When to book
Aim to ask by Monday, July 12, 2027
The long weekend competes with end-of-summer parties and early fall festivals. About two months ahead is a good target.
A suggestion based on roughly 8 weeks of notice, not a deadline. Nothing is booked until you confirm.
Labor Day
A food truck for Labor Day.
Labor Day falls on Monday, September 6, 2027, and in many local neighborhoods it is the last weekend the outdoor pool is open. Schools in the region have usually just started, so families squeeze one more party into the long weekend.
The holiday began as a celebration of working people, and many unions and workplaces still hold a picnic around it. Federal offices close on the Monday, so agencies that want a gathering hold it the Friday before.
Planning tips
- Confirm the pool’s last-day hours before booking a closing party.
- Early September can still be hot; bring shade.
- School has just started, so weekday afternoon events may draw fewer families.
