Freedom day
Celebrate together, eat well.

Juneteenth
Juneteenth became a federal holiday in 2021. Juneteenth National Independence Day falls on Saturday, June 19, 2027, so federal offices close on Friday, June 18, 2027. Many workplaces hold their observances during that week, and agencies and contractors often mark it with a program and a shared lunch on the last workday before the day off.
The celebrations themselves are community-driven: church gatherings, neighborhood festivals in DC and Prince George’s County, and family reunions in the park. Our part is the food. The halal menu means the whole guest list, including Muslim neighbors and relatives, can eat from the same window.
